New Year celebrations do not always have to be about parties, getting hammered, or stocking the body up with platters of calorie-driven food. This New Year, do something unique, something more ‘soulful’ and much less ‘fatal’! Welcome this New Year with the holistic spirit of health and wellness. Prepare for a New Year celebration in yogic style. Here’s how:

Pin-Board the ‘Sweetest’ Memories

As much as New Year is about welcoming new ideas, hope, and perspective, it is just as important to bid goodbye to the year that has gone by. Reminisce about the good and the positive moments you have lived in the past year. Create a pin-board of sweetest memories out of it. Take a few hours to deeply reflect and recall the most wonderful moments that impacted you and made you internally happy. Document these memories in the form of small notes, scribbles, photos, gifts, whatever you can find that reminds you of the cherished times. Collect those and take those forward with you. Dispose of everything else and cleanse your mind, body, and home of it.

Host an Evening of Yoga-Music Get Together

Begin the countdown to New Year by hosting a yoga and meditation get-together or a Satsang session with your loved ones. Prepare the room in advance with some scented candles illuminating the spirit of the evening. Key-in some inspiring music to be played at the time of the get-together. Let your guests soak in the fragrance of the candles and in the soul of the music as you rejuvenate your body with restorative asanas and meditation. If you want to give a more accurate touch to this, then you can invite a yoga teacher to take you through the entire evening.

Experiment with a Delicious Sattvic Platter

Toast to ‘Health and Happiness’ with home-prepared herbal drinks. Experiment with Yogic cuisine variety and season it to your taste. Source an assortment of fresh organic vegetables and turn those into mini platters of food for the family and guests. You can prepare a range of wholesome appetizers to main-course meal choices in completely sattvic style. Commence the morning of the New Year feeling fresh, beaming, and rejuvenated rather than burdened with an upset stomach or a nasty hangover.

Invoke the Humanitarian in you

If you felt like doing a ‘good, selfless’ deed but have been procrastinating it for a number of reasons, then it is the right time and the moment to book-end this year on a humanitarian note. De-Clutter your life and assemble all those objects that you own, but never got around to using it, or have used but no longer intend to. Pack it all up nice and good and gift it to an NGO. It would not hurt if you threw in a few boxes of sweets or packed a home-cooked meal for them in addition to the gifts. It will only kindle another smile.

Gift a New Year Special Yoga Retreat

We can’t stress this enough – the best way to de-stress and invite the glory of health and wellness into life starts with a Yoga Retreat. A quaint, mesmeric natural setting combined with yoga practice, wholesome delicious food, cozy resting place, all this in the company of like-minded individuals, a yoga retreat certainly arrives as the perfect yogic escapade to commence the New Year in. You can select from a variety of New Year Special Yoga Retreats depending upon your taste and choice of destination.

Resolute to be Healthy and Fit This Year

Last yet not the least; create a resolution to become mentally and physically healthier this year. Set a goal for it. Document it as you want – in a video, in a journal, or on a chart. Take the first step by gifting yourself a package to your favorite style of yoga classes or any other form of mind, body workout of your liking. And no matter what, constantly motivate yourself to stick to this resolution. New Year Resolutions are actually ‘Not’ meant to be broken.

Let the New Year celebration be your cue to reestablishing an innate bond with the mind, body, and spirit.

Have a Blessed Year!
